Project Overview
Atkins Custom Builds recently completed a high-specification double hip-to-gable loft conversion on a residential property in Southend, transforming an underused roof space into a bright, modern, and highly functional living area.
The project involved the complete reconstruction of the existing roof. The original structure was carefully removed and disposed of before being reconfigured into a double hip-to-gable design. This allowed us to maximise the available internal space and unlock the full potential of the loft.
Throughout the build, we worked closely with the client, keeping them 100% informed at every stage of the process. This collaborative approach ensured the finished space not only met their expectations but exceeded them.
The completed loft conversion now accommodates:
A spacious master bedroom
A dedicated office space
A walk-in wardrobe
A stylish en-suite bathroom featuring a Juliet balcony with French doors, allowing maximum natural light and airflow throughout the loft
Externally, the property was modernised with silicone render applied to both gable ends. The dormer was finished with red Marley roofing tiles, complemented by upgraded 49s on the front elevation to seamlessly blend the new structure with the existing property.
To further enhance natural light, we installed:
A 1340 Velux window in the front-facing office space
A 780 x 980 Velux window in the walk-in wardrobe
Internally, the finish was completed to an exceptionally high standard. The master bedroom features two downlights positioned either side of the bed, controlled by a two-way gang switch, allowing operation from both the doorway and bedside. A matching two-way lighting system was installed in the en-suite, along with a contemporary LED-lit niche, adding both practicality and a touch of luxury.
